Mental Health

I truly understand that many of us are leery about seeking help from outsiders.  However, I have discovered there are many things we cannot do alone.  My husband pointed out that in a business, we need a "success team" a group of people we trust to help make the best decisions possible.  With that said, we are also obligated to ignore certain advice from those not aligned with our core beliefs and seek out a second opinion; if we cannot find the answers we seek.  I truly believe that if there is a strong enough will, there is always a way to accomplish your goal(s).

"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."

- Nelson Mandela

Anxiety

Living with anxiety can be challenging, but you're not alone. Our platform provides resources and tips to help you manage anxiety effectively.

Some ways to manage anxiety disorders include learning about anxiety, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, correct breathing techniques, dietary adjustments, exercise, learning to be assertive, building self-esteem, cognitive therapy, exposure therapy, structured problem solving, medication and support groups.

Sometimes, I find it better to just practice breathing and counting to pull myself back in to a more mindful state.

PTSD

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a serious mental health issue. Explore our content to understand PTSD better and find ways to heal and recover.

PTSD is characterized by the 4 symptom clusters: 1) Intrusion (re-experiencing), 2) persistent avoidance of stimuli, 3) negative alterations in cognitions and mood, and 4) marked alterations in arousal and reactivity.

Many times PTSD is misdiagnosed due to practitioner or client not recognizing all the symptoms.  Make sure your therapist/counselor is well versed in understanding treatment for PTSD.

Here are two ways professionals are using to help those diagnosed with PTSD:

Prolonged exposure therapy (PE) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy primarily used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), where individuals gradually confront trauma-related memories, feelings, and situations they've been avoiding, allowing them to learn that these reminders are not dangerous and can reduce their distress over time; essentially, it involves repeatedly exposing oneself to the source of their trauma in a safe and controlled environment to help desensitize them to it.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) specifically designed to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by helping individuals identify and challenge negative thoughts and beliefs about a traumatic event that are preventing them from healing, essentially teaching them to re-evaluate their perspective on the trauma and change how they think about it to improve their emotional state; it is considered an evidence-based treatment, meaning research has shown its effectiveness in treating PTSD across various populations.
