Putting the Genie Back in the Bottle
(Part II)
Before the smoke evaporated, I caught a glimpse of two hazy, glowing emerald eyes, that disappeared gradually. I was very shaken and not sure what happened, I had strange dreams that night, as if I were awake. I could remember hearing a deep baritone voice saying "I'm Free" repeating over and over. All I could remember was those powerful emerald eyes staring at me. I felt I was being taunted and scared of what it might mean.
The next night the dream came back but this time I could see a face around those eyes I should have been frightened but some how; I was more inquisitive than scared. I could remember asking what "it" wanted. This time the voice was deep, but felt more reserved,
It asked me 2 questions "Who are You?" and "What do you want?" I nervously responded "my name is Amanda, but my friends and family call me Mandie." before answering his second question, I asked him what or who he was?
By this time I could see his entire face and he had long black hair with dark blue strips through it. He said his name was Kali Jhumpa it means "dark one" "charming".
He went on and told me his story of being deceived by a cunning demon. He said he was a young man and believed he was smarter then the other people of his tribe.
So he left to explore the world and make a name for himself. After betraying others he ran across a young woman named Nora; he seduced her and prevented Nora from marrying a man she loved.
After Nora was scorned she laid out a elaborate trap for this young dark one. She told Kali about her cousin, Mei Li, who was quite fair and wealthy.
Feeling confident of himself, Kali, ventured southwest through the desert. After 17 days, he realized he was lost, now he was out of food and water, and desperate to get back to civilization.
Then Kali, saw a light in the distance he headed that direction, desperate to be saved. Once he arrived at his destination he realized it was just 2 tents, in the middle of nowhere. Kali yelled out "Hello, is anybody here?" Then instantly there appeared an elderly woman. He said "I am Kali, son of Hiram, I was told I could find Mei Li here."
The old lady scoffed and asked "What do you want with Mei Li?"
With Kali's arrogant tone he said "It is none of your business, old woman."
The old lady responded, "Well young man, if you wish to talk to Mei, I need to know who sent you?"
Still feeling overconfident Kali responded "Not that it's any of your business, like I said earlier, but Nora sent me!" Kali blinked and found himself strapped down onto a slab table made out of granite.
He looked up and saw the old lady pouring a drink out of a colorful flask. Kali demanded "What is going on here, I didn't do anything so set me free!"
The old lady replied "Sorry I am unable to do that; You must pay for your crimes." She then cackled wickedly, and continued creating her potion.
Kali lied there screaming and demanding "What will it take to untie me and let me go?" He then cried out "Where is Mei Li, I demand to see her."
The old lady had a sharp snarl look on her face with deep black eyes She said "I am Mei Li."
Kali Laughed and said "You do not sound like Mei Li to me."
The old lady laughed and said "Oh Really, does she look like this?" With a quick snap of her fingers she instantly transformed into a young beautiful Goddess; with the exception her eyes were like burning sapphires and her fingernails were long and filed sharply. She seductively asked Kali "Is this who you are looking for?"
Kali was shocked and started stammering "What do you want from me?"
Mei smiled and said "To grant you a wish; however there is a price to pay."
Kali thought for a moment and said "Ok, it's a deal."
Mei replied "Don't you want to know my terms?"
Kali said "I don't care as long as it releases me from your table."
Mei quipped "Drink this, and you will have 100 days to prove that you have changed, if not I will have your soul and you shall be my prisoner...forever"
Kali agreed and Said "sure, sure, I agree."
Mei said in a wicked voice "Remember your promise to change."
The next thing Kali knew, was he was standing next to his camel and saw a city in front of him. Thinking what happened was a dream from dehydration he continued into the city. Believing he escaped fate, and went back into his old habits of using people for his pleasure.
As days turned into weeks he had a gnawing feeling in the back of his mind. Wondering if what Mei had told him would come true.
