Putting the Genie Back in the Bottle (Part IV)

Kali heard a familiar cackle...he attempted to turn around and flee, but was unable to move  As he stood like a statue, he asked "What do you want from me?"

Mei replied "your soul", she told Kali "I gave you a chance at redemption and you mocked me thinking I wouldn't find you."

Kali stammered "bu,bu but I have..."

Mei LI cut him off saying "No, you have not changed."

So Kali got irate and said "So what, so what if I used people and took their money and possessions."

Mei said to Kali, "I gave you a chance to be a better person, and you ignored my warning. Now you must suffer the consequences."

Kali said, "And pray tell, what is my punishment?"

Mei said in a commanding voice "You will spend the next 500 years, being told what to do and have no control but to obey" Mei went on stating "You will not age, but be granted the ability to grant wishes to your proprietor; with a catch, you will not be able to kill or allow someone detrimental harm or control love."

Kali said "but why me?"

Mei responded and told Kali "I had a life debt to repay to Nora; she rescued me, and I am returning the favor, I undid your wrong doings to her, but at a high price." Mei paused and continued "I need you to pay the price for what you did to her, like you I am unable to harm others. Which is why you are taking my place."

Kali responded "I understand, I know I am not a good man, and have treated people unfairly...so continue with your sentence."

Mei Li worked on her concoction, while Kali watched her pour vials back and forth until a reddish potion with a whiff of smoke frothed over the top of the bottle.

Kali sniffed it and asked. "After 500 years, what happens to me then?

Mei smiled, and said "It is up to you on what kind of man you want to be."

Kali drank the vial and slowly evaporated into the smoke and then disappeared inside the lamp.

So Mandie stared at Kali and asked "So how many wishes do I get?"

With a sad look on his face Kali said "NONE"

Mandie demanded "WHY NOT?"

Kali said "When you broke the lamp, that was the last day of my sentence, So I am a free, and no longer possess the power of the ancients."

Mandie said "You know what I have been going through and he is not going to stop!"

Kali said "I know child, I know, there is one thing I can do for you."

Mandie inquired "What is that?"

Kali whispered "To give you the strength to face your demons, by becoming a SURVIVOR."

Mandie whispered back. "Thank you Kali...and Good Luck"

*To every myth or tale, there is always a shred of truth*

This story is almost entirely fiction, yet there are parts of truth embedded in it. Mandie had to endure the fires of hell to increase her temperament before she was granted her freedom. I hope you enjoyed the story and realize there are always consequences for our behaviors/actions.

Prayers,

Mandie
