To be, or not to be, that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them." This is from William Shakespeare of ""Hamlet" Act III Scene I. It is a soliloquy. It is also referred to as "the Nunnery Scene". But the quote to be or not to be spoken by Hamlet refers to living or dying. According to Britannica "The speech is typically interpreted as expressing Hamlet’s fear that, by killing his uncle Claudius, he will be committing a grievous sin, the consequence of which will be the eternal damnation of his soul." Hamlet is agonizing over what he should do.
The reason I brought this up, is that we as survivors of sexual abuse/assault have our demons we must face. By that, I mean what our response to the agony we endured. It is not something easy to forget, much less forgive. In a way we feel our souls have been tainted, the purity we once held was taken from us, against our will. To be so helpless, as to endure the suffering we have gone through; hoping that judgment will come to those who inflicted our pain.
Some of us believe that "Karma", will be our vengeance. Others believe that hiding and pretending it never happened will be our salvation. While others take arms...(meaning talking and writing...not physical arms)...to release the pain we hold inside; Letting the WORLD know, that we will not stand idly by and watch others suffer from this audacity.
I am writing this article to inspire and to oppose the wrongs that have been done to US! It is our God-given RIGHT to let the world know that we will fight for our rights to be heard, and to let others know they are not ALONE. To overcome our demons we must gain willpower to overcome the damage that was inflicted upon us and do our best to educate the world that we do not justify this behavior. Sexual Abuse needs to be confronted by educating people about the eternal harm it inflicts on those who do not deserve it.
I pray that you will share your story so we can educate and let others know that we are united to end the suffering from Sexual abuse and assault.
Prayers,
Mandie
